Reactive Deposition of Highly Strained NiO as Model Catalyst

 

In situ growth experiment reveal a 1 ML thick wetting layer, which changes to bulk-like NiO at higher thickness showing two typical contributions NiO main peak and an undercoordinated / non local screening contribution [2]. The wetting layer is described in literature [1] as Ni3O4.

Reactivity of NiO towards Reduction with CO

After the surface is reduced, diffusion is the rate determining step (at coverages <1 ML).

For fresh films the surface is reduced after 1ML.
